Overview
We are excited to announce that ClientPoint now fully supports .DWG files and several other standard CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawing formats directly within your digital sales rooms.
Previously, sharing technical blueprints, floor plans, or engineering schematics required your buyers to download the files and open them in specialized third-party software like AutoCAD. With this new update, your clients can now view complex technical drawings seamlessly within their browser as part of your interactive presentation.
Why This Matters
For our clients in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC), and Manufacturing sectors, technical drawings are a critical component of the proposal process. This update removes the friction from the buyer journey, allowing your prospects to review pricing, read the statement of work, and inspect detailed CAD drawings all in one centralized, secure location.
Newly Supported File Formats
You can now upload and display the following file types directly in your ClientPoint Content Library:
.DWG (AutoCAD Drawing Database)
.DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) (Update this list as needed based on your final dev release)
.DWF (Design Web Format) (Update this list as needed)
How It Works
Uploading and sharing a CAD file works exactly the same as adding a standard PDF or image to your presentation.
Step 1: Uploading the File
Navigate to your Content Library from your ClientPoint dashboard.
Click the Upload button in the top right corner.
Select your
.DWGor supported CAD file from your computer. The system will process and optimize the file for web viewing. (Note: Larger technical drawings may take a few additional moments to process compared to a standard text document).
Step 2: Adding it to a Presentation
Open the ClientPoint presentation you are actively building.
Click Add Content and select the CAD file from your library.
Drag and drop the file into your preferred order within the presentation table of contents.
The Buyer Experience
When your client opens the ClientPoint link, the .DWG file will render directly in our secure document viewer. They will be able to seamlessly zoom in on fine details, pan across the schematic, and review the technical specifications without ever leaving the page or downloading external software.
Best Practices & Guidelines
File Size: Ensure your CAD files fall within your standard ClientPoint file size upload limits. For exceptionally large blueprints, consider purging unused layers in AutoCAD before uploading to ensure the fastest possible load times for your buyers.
Context is Key: We recommend placing a brief introductory video (using the Webcam feature) or a summary document immediately before the
.DWGfile in your presentation to explain exactly what the buyer should be looking for in the drawing.
