Overview:
ClientPoint offers flexibility when it comes to updating files within your Content Library. By default, any changes made to a file in the Content Library are automatically reflected in all Templates and ClientPoints that include that file. However, there may be instances where you prefer to maintain specific versions of files without automatic updates affecting them. This guide will walk you through the process of configuring your settings to control how files are updated in your ClientPoints and Templates, either globally or on an individual file basis.
Configuring Automatic Updates (Global Settings):
IMPORTANT NOTE: These automatic updates are only for static files in your Content Library - Advanced Merge Documents must be resubmitted in order for the update(s) to appear.
If you want to disable automatic updates to all ClientPoints whenever a file in your Content Library is updated, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > Advanced Settings.
- Click on the Advanced Configuration tab
-
Under Miscellaneous Configuration, you’ll find an option labeled Do not update existing ClientPoints.
- Green indicates the feature is enabled (automatic updates are turned off).
- Grey means the feature is disabled (automatic updates are allowed).
- Once you’ve selected your desired setting, click Save to confirm the change.
This method will apply the setting globally, affecting all ClientPoints that include files from your Content Library.
Enable or Disable Automatic Updates to Existing ClientPoints When a Content Library File is Updated (Individual Files)
The following steps will show you how to disable the automatic updates to your ClientPoints when updating specific files in your Content Library:
1. Go to Settings > Content Library
2. In the Files tab, check the box next to the file you wish to configure, and click Edit.
3. If you wish to update the file, you can select the updated version from your computer by clicking Choose File.
- Below the file uploader, you’ll see an option that says Do not update existing ClientPoints. You can enable or disable this option based on your preference.
- After configuring, click Submit to save the changes.
By adjusting these individual file settings, you can ensure that only selected files are updated, while others remain unchanged in any existing ClientPoints or Templates.
Conclusion:
ClientPoint allows for both global and individual file-level control over how file updates are managed within your Content Library. Whether you want all ClientPoints to reflect the latest updates or maintain static versions for specific files, you can tailor these settings to fit your needs. By following the steps outlined, you can ensure that your ClientPoints and Templates remain consistent with your desired versioning approach.
