The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a crucial EU law that protects individual privacy and mandates user consent for data collection and storage. For businesses that work with EU clients, ClientPoint offers a GDPR compliance setting that enables a consent checkbox for recipients. This article provides a guide on enabling, customizing, and managing GDPR compliance in ClientPoint, ensuring your outreach meets EU standards.

Steps to Enable GDPR Compliance in ClientPoint

1. Access the GDPR Settings:

    • From the ClientPoint homepage, navigate to Settings.

    • Select the Themes tile.
    • Edit your default theme.

2. Configure GDPR Text and Consent Message:

  • Expand the Advanced Settings section.

  • Scroll down to the GDPR section.

  • Here, you can enter the specific consent text that will appear next to the checkbox and add a customized message for users to confirm data collection and tracking consent.
  • Once configured, click Save Changes and then Done to apply your settings.

 

3. Preview GDPR Compliance for Prospects:

  • After saving your changes, you can preview how the GDPR consent prompt will appear to your prospects, ensuring everything is set up correctly.

How the GDPR Compliance Setting Works in ClientPoint

When GDPR compliance is enabled in your themes, every ClientPoint you send will include a consent checkbox on the email prompt page. Before accessing the ClientPoint, the recipient must check the box to agree to data usage terms. This provides transparency and ensures you comply with EU data protection regulations.

Disabling GDPR Compliance for Non-EU Prospects

If you’re working with a prospect outside the EU, you can disable the GDPR consent prompt for individual ClientPoints. Here’s how:

    • Go to the Info Page of your ClientPoint and locate the Recipient Viewer Options. Click here to read more. 
    • Toggle the Disable GDPR setting to remove the consent checkbox for that specific ClientPoint.
    • Alternatively, if you want to permanently enable or disable GDPR compliance, adjust these settings within Advanced Settings for your themes. Click here to read more.
